Two Weeks of Awesomeness ~ Counting Counties

For years now, I've been counting all of the counties I visit as I go through each state. I used to do this with the help of an online program, but quickly became disinterested in it and reverted to the old method of highlighting a printed map. It may not be the fanciest of ways, but it's what I like since I can do it while on the go. And I've done this for the last several trips I've taken, including the one for my book.

A National Parks Pass Review

I drove north on Interestate 25 through Wyoming easily recalling everything I hate about freeways in the United States. I wanted to get off on a highway and enjoy a bit of the area; after

all, I was on vacation and not exactly in a hurry to get anywhere. Fortunately I saw one of those lovely brown signs that points to areas of interest. This particular one lead to the Oregon Trail wheel ruts and Fort Laramie National Historic Site.

The Devils Tower

The Devils Tower, declared the first national monument in 1906, is one of those places I'm just not sure I can wrap my head around. So much of it seems so contradictory that it just doesn't fit together for me. One thing is certain though, I did enjoy my brief stop and would recommend the Devils Tower to anyone.
